Bellaire High School built a new building that was officially opened for students at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year. A part of the building plan was the construction of a designated courtyard for Alumni and Friends of BHS. Our organization has always sold personalized bricks for the previous building and now for the beautiful new courtyard. The old bricks were re-created and placed in this Alumni courtyard, along with newly purchased bricks. The AFBHS organization also paid to have landscaping and tables and umbrellas in this courtyard to beautify the courtyard and allow it to be used by students and faculty during the day. There were 8 Savannah Hollys trees planted in our courtyard when the landscaping was added last year. We had a ribbon cutting for the Alumni Courtyard on April 20th. On May 16th, the derecho that hit Houston significantly broke the trunk of 2 of the trees and caused significant leaning of 2 other trees. There was an unsuccessful attempt to support the trees. After Hurricane Beryl, we lost the other 2 trees. This is very disheartening for the Alumni Organization.
We are requesting donations to assist in replacing these 4 trees to create shade for our courtyard. You can do this by making an individual donation, or if a graduating class would like to collect money for a tree that would be great. The tree can be recognized as a donation by a particular class. These trees cost us each $600 planted. We would appreciate any assistance.
